Chosen City Church was established in 2019 with a bold vision: to be a chosen community in Charlotte, NC, where people overcome life's challenges, build meaningful relationships, and become more like Jesus. Rooted in 1 Peter 2:9, we're guided by a simple prayer: "Lord, make me over and over again." We're a multigenerational family in the Steele Creek area, united by our mission to Overcome, Build, and Be Like Jesus. Through our core values—Renew, Restore, Rebuild, Reconnect, and Recommit—we equip and engage believers on a spiritual journey of transformation. We believe the Bible is God's inspired Word, that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, and that every believer is called to a growing relationship with Him. Meet Our Pastor

Pastor Walter Bowers, Jr

Senior Pastor

Rev. Walter L. Bowers Jr., Esq.—or as we lovingly call him, Pastor Walt—is the heart and soul of Chosen City Church. Guided by 1 Peter 2:9, he's passionate about one thing: helping people overcome, build, and be like Jesus. With his innovative spirit and deep love for the Holy Spirit's work, Pastor Walt leads our church family with authenticity, energy, and unwavering faith.

Pastor Walt has a servant's heart that extends far beyond our walls. He's led life-changing mission trips to Haiti, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico, bringing hope and the love of Jesus to communities in need. He's also actively engaged right here at home, serving on several boards including the Better Business Bureau (Southern Piedmont Region) and now serving as Director of Governor's Charlotte Office under Governor Josh Stein.

Before stepping into ministry, Pastor Walt served our country with honor as an Army Captain during Operation Iraqi Freedom from November 2005 to November 2006, proving his dedication to service from day one.

But here's what makes Pastor Walt truly special—his love for his family. He's blessed to share life with his beautiful wife, Tiffany Holloway Bowers, and their three amazing (triplet!) sons: Jonah, Jacob, and Joshua. Family is everything to him, and that love spills over into how he shepherds our church family.
Pastor Walt juggles many roles, but his greatest joy and calling? Telling the world about Jesus! His genuine heart, relatable spirit, and love for God's people make him more than just a pastor—he's family.

Our Vision

Chosen City Church exists to create a transformative journey where every person can Overcome, Build, and Be Like Jesus. Through powerful worship experiences, we help individuals overcome life's challenges and encounter God's presence. We equip and empower believers through comprehensive discipleship programs including institutes, dynamic ministries, City Groups,  daycare, and future initiatives that meet both spiritual and practical needs. As lives are transformed, we expand our reach through multisite campuses, empowering partners to be like Jesus by sharing the Gospel and making Kingdom impact throughout Charlotte and beyond. Rooted in 1 Peter 2:9, we are the chosen city within the city—a beacon of hope, transformation, and purpose.
