Chosen City Church launched in November 2019 as an extension of another ministry, planted with a heart for people and a vision for the city. From the beginning, God was shaping more than a church—He was forming a community rooted in purpose, faith, and service.In 2022, God led us through a defining transition. We stepped fully into our identity as Chosen City Church, embracing both the name and the calling placed on our lives. This moment marked a shift from being an extension to becoming an expression of the vision God had entrusted to us. Our mission is clear: To help people Overcome. Build. Be Like Jesus.

We focus on powerful, Spirit-led, charismatic worship; missions and evangelism; and strong community partnerships that allow us to meet real needs and share real hope. Our campus reflects our commitment to holistic ministry. We house a business incubator that helps turn vision into sustainable opportunity, Mecklenburg County Pre-K classrooms that invest in early childhood education, and an on-site daycare that supports families and nurtures the next generation.
We believe the Church should impact lives beyond Sunday—strengthening families, serving the city, and pointing people to Christ in every space we occupy.

Our story is still being written, but our vision is clear. We are building a church that loves boldly, serves faithfully, and reflects Jesus in all that we do.

Meet Our Pastor

Pastor Walter Bowers, Jr

Senior Pastor

Rev. Walter L. Bowers Jr., Esq.—or as we lovingly call him, Pastor Walt—is the heart and soul of Chosen City Church. Guided by 1 Peter 2:9, he's passionate about one thing: helping people overcome, build, and be like Jesus. With his innovative spirit and deep love for the Holy Spirit's work, Pastor Walt leads our church family with authenticity, energy, and unwavering faith.

Pastor Walt has a servant's heart that extends far beyond our walls. He's led life-changing mission trips to Haiti, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico, bringing hope and the love of Jesus to communities in need. He's also actively engaged right here at home, serving on several boards including the Better Business Bureau (Southern Piedmont Region) and now serving as Director of Governor's Charlotte Office under Governor Josh Stein.

Before stepping into ministry, Pastor Walt served our country with honor as an Army Captain during Operation Iraqi Freedom from November 2005 to November 2006, proving his dedication to service from day one.

But here's what makes Pastor Walt truly special—his love for his family. He's blessed to share life with his beautiful wife, Tiffany Holloway Bowers, and their three amazing (triplet!) sons: Jonah, Jacob, and Joshua. Family is everything to him, and that love spills over into how he shepherds our church family.
Pastor Walt juggles many roles, but his greatest joy and calling? Telling the world about Jesus! His genuine heart, relatable spirit, and love for God's people make him more than just a pastor—he's family.
