Cleansing the Temple
Scripture: Mark 11:12-19
When He and His disciples came to Jerusalem Jesus entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling and those who were buying in the temple, and He overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold doves, and He would not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple.
He was teaching and saying, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.”
Points to Ponder:
Do we hide from Christ, the shameful closets reserved for self, areas of resistance to His love. Unless Christ is allowed in for a cleansing that heals and frees us, we will resort to life-draining alternatives. God of Mercy is also God of Correction.
Prayer: Lord, my body is your temple. Search me, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts. And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
