King David Fasted
Scripture: David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and spent the nights lying in sackcloth on the ground. 2 Sam. 12:16
King David committed adultery with Bathsheba, had her husband executed, married her and they had a child. He repented before God, but there were still consequences for his actions. The prophet Nathan told David that the child would die. When the child became very ill, David refused to eat and immediately went into prayer and fasting, hoping that he might find grace in the eyes of God.
After 7 days of praying and fasting before God, the child died. David got up, washed, put on lotions, changed his clothes, went to church and worshiped, went home and ate.

Point to Ponder:
- During this lenten period of fasting, praying, repenting, and remembering, what will we do after our fast?
