Jesus Blesses the Children
Scripture: At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? Mathew 18:1
Some followers brought young children to Jesus, so that He might put his hands upon them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, “Let the little ones come, and do not forbid them, for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” And He took them up in his arms and blessed them.
Children are the only people in the story that do and say nothing. They are brought by their parents, blocked by the disciples, called and welcomed by Jesus. They are simply obedient and humble participants.
Point to Ponder:
•We are not in charge. God is. Like children, we must humbly accept our place and do our best to please the Father.
•The parents brought their greatest treasure to Jesus. What do we take to Jesus for blessing?
Prayer: Lord, You said that what we do for the least of our brothers and sisters we do for You. Help us to see You in everything we do in our everyday lives, even in the tiniest details.
